بديت ذكر اللي بسط سبع بوتاد
I began to mention the one who established seven stakes
Bdait dhikr ely bisat sab‘ bootad
واللي رفع سبع بليا عمدها
And the one who raised seven pillars without columns
Weli rafa‘ sab‘ balaya amadha
والكار للي صار غيث للأجواد
And the one who, like rain, nourished the generous
Wel kar ely saar ghayth lel ajwaad
لاقبلها صارت ولا من بعدها
Nothing like it happened before and not after it
La qablha sarat wala min ba’adha

زايد على كل العرب بالوفاء زاد
Zayed surpassed all Arabs with his abundance of loyalty
Zayed ala kel al Arab bil wafa zad
ساق المراجل لين وقف عددها
He led the men of valor until they stopped counting them
Sag el marajil lain wagaf adad ha
حلحيل حلو مر زراع حصاد
A paradox, sweet yet bitter, like a farmer's harvest
Helhail helo mrr ziraa hasaad
كبد يداويها وكبد لهدها
A heart he heals and a heart he endures
Kabadn yida weha weh kabadn le had haa

حتى العجوز اللي ورى شط بغداد
Even the old woman beyond the banks of Baghdad
Hata el ajooz elly waraa shat Baghdaad
سمت على شيب الفلاحي ولدها
She named after the loyal/courageous Falahi, her son
Samat ala el shaib el-Falahi waladha
تبغاه يطلع مثل زايد ولا فاد
She wants him to be like Zayed, and it didn’t benefit
Tibghah yatla mthl Zayed wala fad
ماكل من هاز الطويله صعدها
Not everyone who rocks the long (palm tree), climbs & reaches the top
Ma kil min haz el tawilah sa’adha

O Sheikh, I came to you without an appointment
Ya Sheikh ana jeetak ala ghayr meyad
من خوف روحي لايجيها وعدها
Out of fear for my soul, lest its promise comes (death)
