The design challenge was to create a student housing project in the Mihan area of Nagpur in Maharashtra, India, for 500 students, with a balanced gender distribution of 250 male and 250 female students. The focus was to design a space that aligns with certain human tendencies found in students, making them feel comfortable in their living space and encouraging co-existence through interactions.

The design approach took into consideration the central dimension of extraversion and introversion in some human personality theories. Extraversion is often demonstrated through outgoing, talkative, and energetic behavior, while introversion tends to be more reserved and solitary. An ambivert is a person who is moderately comfortable with groups and social interaction but also enjoys time alone, away from a crowd. Essentially, an ambivert is a person whose behavior adapts to the situation they are in. The design strategy aimed to create a space that accommodates these different tendencies to provide a comfortable living environment for all students.
